THE FOLLOWING INTERACTIVE DVD/VHS REVIEW IS OPINIONATED AND SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AS FACT.
I AM NOT CONSIDERED A PROFESSIONAL WRITER, NOR WOULD I EVER CONSIDER MYSELF ONE SO THE WRITING TECHNIQUE IS ONE AS IF I WERE TALKING TO EVERYONE ON THE AIR DURING THE WEEKLY SUNSET FLIP WRESTLING SHOW.
REGARDLESS OF WHAT IS WRITTEN ABOUT ANYONE, I RESPECT PRO WRESTLERS AS A WHOLE FOR PUTTING THEIR BODIES ON THE LINE FOR THEIR ENTERTAINMENT.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO REPLY. HATEFUL RESPONSES SUCH AS "fuck YOU TRISH STRATUS IS THE BEST" ARE NOT WELCOME AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Hi everyone,
It's time for another Interactive DVD/VHS Review, done exclusively on the Sunset Flip Wrestling Show myspace (www.myspace.com/sunsetflipshow) and the NYWC board. Twice a week I write about a DVD that I have from either WWE, TNA, ROH. I received a big lot of DVD's about a year ago so it's time to put them to good use.
This time we take a look at ROH's Dissension
ROH World title Match
Bryan Danielson vs AJ Styles
Christopher Daniels vs Matt Sydal
ROH Tag Team Title Match
Austin Aries and Roderick Strong vs Jimmy Jacobs and BJ Whitmer
Anything Goes
Claudio Castagnoli and Ace Steel vs Nigel McGuiness and Chad Collyer
Low Ki vs Jack Evans
Jimmy Rave, Alex Shelly and Abyss vs Tony Mamaluke, Sal Rinauro, and Delirious
First Time Ever
Jimmy Yang vs Jay Lathal
Adam Pearce vs Jay Fury
Plus: ROH Commissioner Jim Cornette
Going into this DVD, it looks like a very strong card. Danielson vs Styles should be great and I'm looking forward to this. This is another DVD that I am watching for the first time.
Adam Pearce vs Jay Fury
I have ABSOLUTELY NO emotional attachment to this match. I don't know who Jay Fury is and I never cared about Adam Pearce. Not to say he is bad, just one of those guys I never cared about. I guess it was a decent opening. Adam Pearce waits in the ring for Jim Cornette, the current ROH commissioner. Jim Cornette calls out garbage hardcore wrestling which is great.
Necro Butcher is seen in the crowd with a ticket and Jim Cornette runs him down. Jim Cornette claims Necro Butcher is not a real wrestler because he's a hardcore wrestler, I agree with that. If that's all you can do that doesn't make you a wrestler. Cornette challenges Necro Butchers because he's not a wrestler and neither is Jim Cornette. Cornette and Pearce beat up Necro. The brawl continues to the back.
The fans are chanting "Jim Cornette".
EXCELLENT SEGMENT!
But I do wonder how the fans, who were supportive of Jim Cornette and his speech, now are okay with Necro Butcher being at almost every ROH event. Maybe ROH fans of the past are better than current ROH. it makes sense cause also the ROH fans accept Jerry Lynn as their champion.
Necro Butcher is truly an embarassment to this business but that's for another day.
Jay Lethal vs Jimmy Yang
I would be much more excited if it was "Cowbody" Jimmy Wang Yang vs "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal. Good match. Fans seemed really into the match. Couple of cool spots.
Jimmy Rave, Alex shelly and Abyss vs Tony Mamaluke, Sal Rinauro and Delirious
Before I begin, I must state something. I never knew Abyss was ever a part of ROH. One of the things people bring up during Abyss's TNA run is that he is a "mankind rip off". I never heard that from fans when he was in ROH. Do these ROH fans show double standards? That it was okay in ROH and not in TNA.
either way, I always liked Abyss and still do. To me, Abyss is one of the best in ring big men workers in any promotion. He can do hardcore, he can do regular matches. And when put with James Mitchell I thought he was great. With that said, he looks very out of place in this 6 man tag team match.
I thought the beginning was slow, and so did the fans. The ending I enjoyed. I thought for a second I would Abyss do a flip, which he would earn even more respect from me because I love flips!
Low Ki vs Jack Evans
I've always been a big fan of Low Ki/Senshi so I was really pissed he signed with WWE because he's one of those guys that I see going nowhere in WWE. He should have stayed in TNA. his opponent is Jack Evans and he comes out acting like an idiot and I don't think I like this guy.
Claudio Castagnoli and Ace Steel vs Nigel McGuiness and Chad Collyer
Decent match. Jim Cornette made it a no holds barred anything goes match.
I'm getting tired of these backstage segments that show 2 people talking to each other in the back with no sound or anything.
Austin Aries and Roderick Strong vs Jimmy Jacobs and BJ Whitmer
I personally thought it was a little bit better than the last tag team match but I could see why others may think the opposite. It's all based on taste. A bit of a surprising ending after the match but I would probably care more if I actually followed the storyline, or at least I would hope I would.
Christopher Daniels s Matt Sydal
really enjoyed this match. It's weird seeing that neither are in ROH anymore and in WWE and TNA. I really liked the ending of the match.
Bryan Danielson vs AJ Styles
Very surprised by the ending that there is a tapout but great match. A great moment for Danielson. So if your a fan of Bryan Danielson you may want to check out this DVD,.
All in all a good DVD, highlighted to me by Cornette's promo about hardcore wrestling. I do feel hardcore wrestling has a place in pro wrestling, in fact I was very much into hardcore wrestling in my teenage years. Now, not so much.
