Welcome to another edition of the No Punches Pulled interview series. In this edition it's a man who has done it all in NYWC. Ladies and gentlemen Alex Reynolds.
RL: Were you a wrestling fan growing up?
AR: Of course. I was a huge fan growing up. I started watching around 1994. I was a huge Doink The Clown fan and was legit scared of The Undertaker. Once wrestling came into my life, I pretty much stopped following sports and all that kind of stuff. Only wrestling mattered to me.
RL: When did you decide "I'm going to be a wrestler"?
AR: When I was 12 or 13 I said it would be awesome to be a wrestler, but when I went to Survivor Series 2002 as the confetti was coming down after Shawn Michaels won the world heavyweight title, I told myself I need to be a wrestler?
RL: How did you discover the NYWC academy?
AR: After Survivor Series I seriously researching wrestling schools. That's when I found out that Critical Mass(which was the precursor to NYWC) was a legit 5 minutes from my house. However, I felt I was too young at the time so I put off joining until after high school.
RL: What were your inital impressions of Mikey Whipwreck?
AR: One of the most intimidating guys I ever met. He was very standoff-ish in the beginning and made you earn his respect. He would also mind fuck everybody which made him hard to read.
RL: How tough was training?
AR: Training was the toughest thing I ever went through. Say what you will about wrestling, no fan will ever understand what we put our bodies through.
RL: What are your memories of your debut where you were in a battle royal at Psycho Circus 2007?
AR: Ha, I remember having a bunch of friends and family there and then getting eliminated about 2 minutes into the match.
RL: What are your memories of teaming with Dan Barry?
AR: Dan was awesome to team with, especially in my first couple of matches. He would always help me out and coach me from the corner. Our match with Tony Nese & Plazma is still one of my favorites.
RL: That was a great match. How did you come up with "Yours Truly"?
AR: I was sitting in my car during a break between classes and I was practicing promos. During one of them I referred to myself as Yours Truly and thought it would be a cool moniker.
RL: What are your memories of winning the NYWC hi-fi title from Javi-Air?
AR: I don't remember much of the match, but it was cool winning a title after debuting 5 months earlier.
