Welcome to another edition of the No Punches Pulled interview series. This time around it's DJ Phat Pat.
RL: Were you a wrestling fan growing up? DJ: Absolutely! I remember as far back as 1992 with my Uncle Chris and in 1996 I just became a super fan. Big HBK fan and when the NWO started I was all about WCW.
RL: When did you decide you were going to be a wrestler? DJ: It's funny I was never like "I'm going to be a wrestler". It just happened. I don't have any stories of when I was 8 of telling people "when I grow up I'm going to be a pro wrestler". That being said when people I grew up with and family members found out about me wrestling no one was surprised.
RL: How did you discover the NYWC academy? DJ: I knew about it through the grapevine. After training with th Maximo brothers was a crash and burn, Victor Cruz said I should join the NYWC and here I am?
RL: What were your initial impressions of Mikey Whipwreck? DJ: Initially not much. When you're new Mikey doesn't pay you too much mind, when he really started talking to me I was happy as hell. It's funny because the first real discussion we had was about the WCW junkyard invitational from Bash At The Beach 1999 lol.
RL: How tough was training? DJ: It was not easy that's for sure and I remember an individual being a real Dick to me during the cardio workouts. That individual ended up being my tag team partner and one of my best friends there. fuck you Kip! But I just remember being so happy to be able to stand in a wrestling ring so I wasn't going to stop.
RL: What are your thoughts on Pat Buck as a trainer? DJ: I love Pat! It was unfortunate that most of his students at the NYWC where people really did not want it but Buck is the man. Happy that he was my first trainer and happy I can call him a friend.
RL: What are your memories of teaming with Pat Buck? DJ: I remember thinking to myself how awesome it was to be able to team with my trainer. Did not last long but it was a big help when I first started getting on shows to have him out there with me.

RL: What are your memories of Benny Martinez? DJ: Not much. I remember he was a bit of character. But that's pretty much it.
RL: What are your memories of Michael Mansfield? DJ: Man that dude speaks his mind and it's something I respect about him. He is a lot of fun to be around and he is for sure a guy I wish was still around.
RL: What are your memories of Kieran? DJ: A reall funny guy who one day I hope gets the opportunity to portray a character that is not so serious because he was great at it. LOW CROSS BODY!
RL: What are your memories of Chris Forza? DJ: Talented, in shape, and under apppreciated. Helped me along the way also. Another one of those dudes I wish was still around.
RL: What are your memories of All Money Is Legal? DJ: It was talked about me joining them but it never happened. But I did have my first big show match with them at Psycho Circus 2011 and that is something I'll always remember.

RL: What are your memories of Eddie Guapo? DJ: During my first few months I was facing The Uninvited a lot and Guapo threw a lot of advice my way. I really appreciated it.
RL: What are your memories of Manny Martinez? DJ: When I was facing Uninvited I faced Manny a lot. I would like to face him again now that I'm better than I was at that time.
RL: What are your memories of Azrieal? DJ: I don't know if I have any memories of him. Can't recall any match or any real conversations with him lol. That being said he seems lika a cool dude.
RL: What are your memories of Bruno Marciano? DJ: Bruno was little bit of a weird guy lol. But not in a bad way by any means I did have my first singles match against him in Port Jefferson....I lost.
RL: What are your memories of teaming with Kenny Royal? DJ: I have been lucky with my tag team partners in NYWC. Kenny is no exception! Us teaming almost didn't happen but I'm happy it did. He knew what he was doing in the ring and was a big help along the way. Sometimes we did not see eye to eye on things in the ring but we were good buddies. Also he was an awesome heel and he is definitely one of those guys I wish was still around.

RL: What are your memories of Tandemonium(Matias & Odie Montez)? DJ: I liked both guys a lot. It's sad they both left. I would have liked to see that team after they tagged longer.
RL: What are your memories of matches with Mega & Alex Reynolds? DJ: The matches myself and Kenny had with Mega & Alex are some of my favorites. Alex is the most talented guy I have been in the ring with to date. He is just so good. As for Mega the dude gets it. He is fun to work with.
RL: What are your memories of Marty Flames? DJ: Another dude I wish was still around. I always thought he brought something different to our shows.
RL: What are your memories of Syther? DJ: He can be a little weird at times. But he reallly keeps the mood light. He is someone I do wish I had a chance to face.
RL: What are your memories of matches with Dickie Rodz & Rex Lawless? DJ: I remember not being happy with them. The matches were not bad or anything, I just felt like they could have been a lot better.

RL: What are your memories of Big Time Rush? DJ: Great team! Good guys. Would have liked a chance to work them with one of my tag partners.
RL: What are your memories of Danny E? DJ: The little time spent teaming with him was pretty fun. The 3 way we had at Psycho Circus with Francis was a lot of fun. I was really happy with it!
RL: What are your memories of teaming Francis Kipland Stevens? DJ: fuck you Kip! LOL. Just playing. Teaming with Francis has been the best. He is so underrated it's crazy. We have has a handful of matches I have enjoyed. Hopefully we can get those tag titles.
RL: What are your memories of Style & Finesse? DJ: They are underrated. Hopefully they can get a chance to move up the card one of these days.
RL: What are your memories of Wreckless & Wasted? DJ: Good guys who are really over. I think they party way to hard because I can go without the slippery ringside area after their matches lol.

RL: What are your memories of Slophunters? DJ: I already said how good Alex is, and Johnny is right there. Being in the ring with those guys is awesome because they have the ability to not only be great themselves but they have the ability to make the people they are in the ring with look better. The 2 matches we had with them, the 3 way with Batiri and the match we had in July might be my favorite matches. It's always a goood time wrestling them. Plus we have a goood time out of the ring too.
RL: How did you end up in Eric Tapout's PWS? DJ: Pat Buck sent me a text one day and said "do you want to be in PWS?" I replied Yes! But on the last PWS shows I had one of my worst matches ever. I was so pissed after the match lol. I will do better next time. They also get 1,000 fans at their shows and being in front of that many people is pretty awesome.
RL: What are your memories of the match with Spyder & J-Redd? DJ: J-Redd & I started at the same time at NYWC. I'm always happy when I get to see him or wrestle against him. That match was fun.
RL: I remember chanting Go Phat Pat! Go Phat Pat! during the dance contest. Word Association-Mikey Whipwreck DJ: Respect
RL: Curse DJ: Owner
RL: Shane DJ: Owner
RL: Crusher Doogan DJ: Hello Crusher
RL: Forge DJ: Ref
RL: Stockade DJ: Snug
RL: Appolyon DJ: A few words, talented, under appreciated, connected.

RL: Tony Nese DJ: Superstar
RL: Matthew Justice DJ: Chill
RL: Papadon DJ: Goddess
RL: What are your thoughts on people who fake post on message boards? DJ: It's whatever.
RL: What are your thoughts on the NYWC message board? DJ: Wish more people would get on it.
RL: Are there any other promotions you'd like work for? DJ: Any promotion who wants!
RL: Where do you see yourself in 5 years? DJ: Doing something in the world of pro wrestling.

I feel honored that his word association for Crusher Doogan was "Hello Crusher"
