Welcome to another edition of the No Punches Pulled interview series. In this edition, it's former NYWC tag team, & hi-fi champion Dan Barry.
RL: Were you wrestling fan growing up? DB: Yes I was. I was a huge wrestling fan. I used to wrestle my pet monsters on my trampoline. I never won.
RL: When did you decide you were going to be a wrestler? DB: I had decided early on that I was going to do it. When I turned 16, I received money from a car accident I had, an as soon as I got the check I signed up for classes.
RL: How did you discover Critical Mass wrestling school? DB: A friend of mine from high school is Tyler Payne's little sister. She pointed me towards Critical Mass.
RL: What were your initial impressions of Curse & Mike Mayhem? DB: Curse was always the bearer of bad news. He was the bad cop for a long time. I thought he hated me. Eventually, I think I grew on him. He is an incerdibly smart man who doesn't get the credit he deserves. Mayhem was an encyclopedia of wrestling moves. He studied them and how to apply them and could teach you just about anything.
RL: How tough was training? DB: Very tough. I would struggle to walk at school and turning my head was a chore. But I wanted nothing more to do it.
RL: What are your memories of your 1st match? DB: I wrestled The Playboy Maximillyn in a match that was neither our best matches. But it was a great learning experience. I remember having the wind knocked out of me a lot.
RL: What are your memories of Johnny Ova? DB: He and I helped each other develop as pro wrestlers. Unfortunately, we thought our matches were better than we were and that every fan studied our matches and put as much thought into them as we did. If we had done less, it would have been more memorable.

RL: What are your memories of Tyler Payne? DB: He didn't like me for a long time. Probably deservedly so. There will be a trend of that for those of you reading. He was my travel partner to a number of shows. He had a good mind for wrestling and left before his time was up. I hear he is doing well though.
RL: What are your memories of Pat Buck? DB: Carmine Castellano announcing his name is a funny memory to me. He was another one who was never my biggest fan, he might not still like me. We were the first 2 participants in the 2004 Psycho Circus and I'm glad. Our contrast in stlyes set the tone for the show. He's a smart guy. He's studied under the very best and made pro wrestling his life. I wish the best of him.
RL: What are your memories of Grim Reefer? DB: Hilarious. Reefer can catch you off guard with both his humor and left clothesline. He and I had a lot of good matches and I feel we have a few more left in us.
RL: What are your memories of the 2004 Psycho Circus? DB: Pain. I was pretty beat up. Diving off the cage to the floor was an incredibly scary moment. I was one of the first participants and I remember I felt sick all day due to nerves. Once I stepped through the curtain, I knew that this match was huge.
RL: What are your memories of Foxy Foxxy & Damien Dragon? DB: Nice couple. Had a nice feud with them & Ken Scampi for a while. Brought out a lot in everyone. They are good peopleand I'm sad I don't see them anymore.

RL: What are your memories of Southern Vinny Stylin'? DB: He is a funny guy. He once tried to cut a promo at a summer camp. When he realized he couldn't say anything offensive, he froze up and became incerdibly awkward. Hillaious.
RL: What are your memories of Mike Mondo? DB: Hardest working wrestler. He was a natural and he still worked his ass off. We had 2 fun matches together. I love when I see him after a long time and he says my name. He swears everytime. Classic.
RL: What are your memories of Dickie Rodz? DB: See Tyler & Buck. He was the NYWC mainstay for a long time. I watched him transition from an uncomfortable wrestler to a competent champion. Haven't seen him in a long time.
RL: How did you feel when Mikey Whipwreck came into NYWC? DB: I was happy. Mikey & I got along and I knew he could bring a lot.
RL: What are your memories of Ricky O's Jersey Championship Wrestling? DB: I had a lot of fun on the shows, but there was a bunch of nonsense involved that I wasn't happy about.
RL: What are your memories of Frank Goodman's USA Pro Wrestling? DB: He was incredibly successful but his shows were 6 hours long. Johnny Ova & I once wrestled Mikey & Wayne at 12 midnight once.

RL: What are your memories of Mason Raige? DB: He was a great guy. Funny and smart. Miss him.
RL: What are your memories of Joey Matthews? DB: He was a great talent to have at shows. Wrestling him taught me a lot.
RL: What are your memories of Ken Scampi? DB: My best friend in wrestling. He can be offensive and rude, but he means well. We legititmatly beat the hell out of each other in NYWC for 20 minutes. We both still have scars from it.
RL: What are your memories of Tara Charisma? DB: Driving to NWA Cyberspace with her & Scampi are moments I will never forget.
RL: What are your memories of Javi-Air? DB: We had great chemistry. He is talented and innovative. His ladder match with SAT is still the scariest thing I've seen.
RL: What are your memories of Alex Reynolds? DB: He is a great talent and I take all the credit in the world for his successes. I'm kidding. He's great.

RL: What are your memories of Plazma(formerly known as Trent Baretta in WWE)? DB: Dude man he's awesome. I was his partmer when Monsta Mack threw him into a wall. Spent the night in the hospital. Saw him throw a taco at a homeless man out of the kindness of his heart.
RL: What are your memories of Anthony Nese? DB: I beat him when he was Maverick. His tag team move with Plazma was painful.
RL: What are your memories of Alicia? DB: My tag team partner! She's a cool girl and I wish her all the best.
RL: What are your memories of Nuke? DB: Sweetest man I ever met in wrestling. Can never say enough nice things about him.
RL: What are your memories of Spyder? DB: The tightmaster general was the first wrestler to take my 450 splash. His beard trimming skills are legendary.

RL: What are your memories of BS Xpress? DB: Tony Burma had the corniest one-liners when I met him, but I still remember them so they must've been good. I miss Mike Spinelli. I need to make a note to call him. Best partiers NYWC ever had.
RL: What are your memories of Dead Presidents? DB: I loved wrestling them. We brought out good matches in each other.
RL: What are your memories of Brett Mathhews & Brian Myers? DB: Happy to lose the tag team title to future WWE tag tem champs. I am so proud of their current success.
RL: What are your memories of Benny Martinez? DB: Goffy bastard. He should've stuck with it.
RL: Why did you leave NYWC? DB: If you asked me this in 2008, I would've pointed a finger at any number of people. In reality, I needed to go. I was unhappy in my life and I needed a change. What's in the past is in the past, and I'm happy it's over.

RL: How did you end up in Fight The World Wrestling? DB: After I decided to leave NYWC, I called Grim Reefer and asked about FTW. They made an offer and I took it. It was purely a financial decision. Eventually, I became friends with Sean Stern & Earl Cooter and came to love FTW. I've had a lot of great matches there.
RL: What are your memories of Earl Cooter? DB: He can draw heat like no one else. Works real hard to make FTW successful.
RL: What are your memories of Wes Draven? DB: Fun guy to wrestle. He once gave me a piledriver off a ladder.
RL: What are your memories of Amazing Red? DB: Innovator to wrestling. I remember seeing him in a jumpsuit at HWA getting killed by Mega.
RL: What are your memories of Azrieal? DB: I've wrestled Azzy tons of time and the match is never the same. Big fan of his.

RL: What are your memories of Jay Lethal? DB: Another person I've wrestled numerous times. I loved wrestling him as he & I clicked. Someone I want to wrestle again.
RL: What are your memories of Jay Lover? DB: Tough son of a bitch.
RL: What are your memories of Bill Carr? DB: Newest member of Team Tremendous. Love this guy. Stan Handsome. We became friends before an FTW show because we got there incredibly early.
RL: What are your memories of Lenn Oddity? DB: We didn't get along when we met. Now, I love that clown. I wish we could've wrestled more.
RL: What are your memories of tthe late Billy Firehawk's NWA Cyberspace? DB: Some of my favorite times in wrestling. He was vilified because he overpaid wrestlers. Stupid.
RL: Word Association-Mikey Whipwreck DB: Mad man. Influenced me more than he knows. Happy he was my first match back.
RL: Curse DB: Great guy. Kept in touch with me long after I left NYWC. Main reason I am back now.
RL: Shane DB: We have had our ups and downs. He is devoted to NYWC. I'm glad we are cool.
RL: Crusher Doogan DB: I messed up something fierce with him once. I did something stupid and he forgave me even though I was an asshole. I will never forget that.
RL: Mega DB: Nice guy who put me through a table twice. He drove in the snow for 3 hours for an NYWC show that was cancelled once. Rough.
RL: Steve Forge DB: Nice guy. Loves NYWC and it show.
RL: Brian Vitko DB: Best color commentator NYWC ever had. Mr. Entertainment
RL: ACE Pro Wrestling DB: I had fun times on Sip Street. Parking sucked.
RL: Jac Sabboth DB: Never stiffed me. Always nice to me.
RL: What are your thoughts on people who fake post on message boards? DB: That's the most excitement their day will have. It means nothing and can often be funny.
RL: What are your thoughts on the NYWC message board? DB: Haven't seen it. Will look now.
RL: Where do you see yourself in 5 years? DB: I'm not Miss Cleo. I don't plan to far ahead.
RL: Is there anything you'd like to say to the fans? DB: I hope I don't disappoint.
RL: Thank you for your time Dan.
