Hi everyone, this is Jim Boy Star with a really weird review.
Last night I went to American Championship Entertainment's “Anarchy”, which was headlined by the debut of the new ACE Arena. Some people may say it was headlined by the appearances of Colt Cabana (yeah okay), Lince Dorado, Eddie Kingston and Nikki Roxx, but I can tell everyone right now as a person that has gone to ACE many times, the selling point for me was checking out the new venue.
Much more spacey but I don't think there was a great improvement on the air circulation but it was better than the old place.
Its great to be able to hang out with some great wrestling fans in the ACE arena, as it always has been and then during the break I got to talk to a bunch of them with some serious wrestling talk (Why does WWE push Cena, what's wrong with WWE, Batista is an idiot, etc.) during the break.
Let's get to the matches
BS Express vs Killa S and Giovanni Marranca
This was a match that was taped for Actionzone. It was a great opener to get the crowd lively. A great tag team match and definitely anything better that WWE has given us within the past couple of years in regards to tag team wrestling. Then again, that really isn't that hard.
Let's get to the singing?
One thing I noticed that was different than any other show I've been to before is they had this rapper come in the ring and sing a couple of songs. Not very clear though, meaning the sound was mumbled and I didn't understand much of what he was saying.
I would say he did like 4 songs and I thought he was trying to beat the Kid Rock Wrestlemania record for most songs performed during a wrestling event.
I know some hated it, I didn't mind it. It could have been worse. ACE could've brought in a 3 Door Hoobaback Band for it. And if you don't know what a 3 DoorHoobaback Band is LISTEN TO THE SHOW EVERY SUNDAY 6pm EST on www.dekadance-radio.com or download the latest Sunset Flip Wrestling Show at sunsetflipwrestling.podomatic.com
So after that plug for the show, let's get to the main Anarchy Show
-Lince Dorado d. Mike Donovan
Lince is awesome. The whole match was great. Going into this event I I knew there would be some good matches. This was not one of the ones I predicted. Some really awesome moves and a great crowd opener for the actual Anarchy event (the tag match was for Actionzone).
6-Way Aerial Assault Match
- Killa S d. Envy, Sam Sational, Black Zemis, Benny Martinez, & Frightmare
This was a surprise match and to Killa S's credit, this was his second match. I LOVE FLIPS! I say the more flips the better at wrestling shows. This was an awesome match for me because of that reason. High impact action, high flying and quick. My favorite kind of wrestling match. One of my favorite matches of the night.
ACE Diamond Division Championship
- Shawn Walker © d. Bandido, Jr. to retain the ACE Diamond Division Championship
Considering what it followed, this was a great match. If anything the only thing I didn't like was the post match. Bandido Jr. basically challenges Shawn Walker again (even though he just lost) and Dover (Walker's manager) would not be at ringside. Why would Walker agree to it? Plus why would Bandido get another after he just lost? Shouldn't there be a new challenger? From a logic standpoint it made no sense to me. It was like a WWE move where people constantly get title shots for no reason at all.
However, logic wise I think that was only complaint on this event, which is rare cause usually in wrestling there's at least 4. To me that shows how great this ACE card was.
- Eddie Kingston d. Bruno Marciano
Eddie Kingston's talking made this match. It was a decent match but Kingston's interaction with the fans made it very memorable. Now Eddie Kingston wants to fight the top guy in ACE..... Azriel (who has no title by the way). Reminded me of when Bret Hart came back to WWE and said he wants to fight the best guy on the roster and that was Stone Cold Steve Austin. You don't have to be a champion to be considered the best.

2 Out Of 3 Falls
- Mo Sexton d. Azrieal
Going into the event my prediction was this was going to be the match of the night. It was a great match and I felt was very well done from a booking standpoint. Let's take a look at how this went down.
Azriel brings the chair in the ring and gets caught using it so first fall goes to Mo. Since Mo is out already Azriel goes for the pin but then Mo kicks out so Azriel does his move from the top rope on Mo to even the score. The final fall looked like it would go to Azriel but then Kingston came out (remember the challenge?) to distract Azriel. Eventually Mo got the win. Very well booked in my opinion.
ACE Tag Team Championship (Triple Threat)
- Johnson 2 Johnson © d. Saints of Brutality & William Wyeth & "Hollywood" Joe Hardway to retain ACE Tag Team Championships
Johnson 2 Johnson has a new theme song. It's 3OH!3's “Don't Trust Me” which is just awesome. Along with the babypowder, this has become my new favorite team in ACE. Johnson 2 Johnson's gimmick is they throw out babypowder into the crowd. Truth be told, I have a weak sense of smell so even though it may annoy most people, I barely get effected. So I say....BRING ON THE BABYPOWDER! YEAH! Ummmmm...... oh yeah. They won! Yay! I wonder who they will fight next. Just like before an awesome tag team match which is a dying art in WWE.
After the match Wyeth and Hardway argue and it looks like those 2 will feud. I always wondered if they feuded who would wind up being the face and heel. Looks like Hardway will be the face, Wyeth will be the heel.
WSU World Championship
- Mercedes Martinez © vs. Nikki Roxx ended in TWO time limit draws
Usually I badmouth the WWE divas to no end and praise the Knockouts cause they can actually wrestle and have good matches. I was not thrilled about a women's match on this show.
This was the weakest match of the night, but before the hatemail comes in (do I even accept mail?) it should be noted that this was a decent match.
The only reason it was the worst match of the night is because the rest of the show was so awesome. In order for it to be on par with the rest of the night Mercedes (or Nikki) would have had to go on the top rope and do a hurricanrana into a til a whirl, followed up by a Canadian Destroyer. In other words, it was probably not going to happen.
Nikki was a great TNA talent and was really good at the hardcore type matches. Minimal moves were botches (maybe like 1 move) so that was different to see. Plus there was a really cool submission. I'm not saying the match was awesome or even great. It was a good solid match that did not contain any botches and nowadays that's all I can really ask of women's wrestling.
ACE Heavyweight Championship
- Dan Maff © d. Colt Cabana to retain ACE Heavyweight Championship
After watching this match it is plain to see why WWE released Cabana/Scotty Goldman.
He is hysterical on the mic and worked the mic really well. But the actual match was not that good. WWE already has someone like that and his name is Santino Marella.
Maff's dive to the outside was cool and the confrontation with Maff and Vince Steele (who was the ref) . Pretty cool stuff. It was announced after the match Maff would fight Steve Corino. At least that's a step up from Cabana.
In conclusion, this is one of the best shows I've been to recently been to. I think it says a lot when I go to lots of indy shows and this is one of the only ones that I chose to write about. This includes lots of ACE shows.
I actually didn't hate anything on the show (except the Bandido rematch thing) and lots of stuff I really liked. This is VERY VERY RARE.
It's nice to write a very positive piece about pro wrestling. It doesn't happen very often.
