The third in NYWC's trifecta of shows has come and gone. It is now in the history books, and the all powerful Scooterdust is here to enlighten the NYWC community for those who missed out.
The show:
The announcer for the show: Shane.
We start with "Yours Truly" Alex Reynolds, and his esteemed stepping stone Butler Maxwell Belvedere. Reynolds insults Woodside and makes a Bruce Springsteen reference which automatically gets him ten points in my book. This start was weird because the Tag Battle Royal was announced first, but Reynolds said he had to leave early (more than that in my personal notes).
In a solid opening match, Alex Reynolds def. Francis Kipland Stevens in 7:42 with the Reynolds Wrap after interference from Maxwell to retain the NYWC Interstate Championship.
Next, we get the Tag Battle Royal, and 7 introductions later we have a match.
All Money Is Legal won a 7-Team Battle Royal to earn a shot at the NYWC Tag Team Championship against the Celtic Saints in the main event of the evening.
Our third match has Rob Eckos debut new music (as far as Robert and I can tell).
In the third match of the evening, Quiet Storm def. Rob Eckos in 8:59 with the Storm Cradle Driver.
Our half-way main event is the NYWC Championship match.
King Mega w/ Prince Charles def. Big John Silver in 6:49 with the Chokeslam to retain the NYWC Championship.
It was here that the main problem of the evening started, but that will be in my personal notes.
One intermission later, and we're back to the show.
Joey Braggiol def. Dirty Moore w/ The Rednex in 2:15 with the Spinebuster. Short, sweet, to the point, Braggiol is unstoppable and his ability to move is that of great big men like Bam Bam Bigelow.
Papadon def. Josh Daniels in 13:05 with the Shining Wizard. Daniels played the face here, and what was supposed to be a three-way with Azraiel ended up a one on one. Good match.
Bruno Marciano def. Azraiel in 15:58 with a schoolboy rollup after botched interference from Rob Eckos to retain the HiFi Championship. You read that right. Dan Eckos was not at the event, and Azraiel steps in, with Rob in his corner. It was a very good match.
In our main event, The Celtic Saints def. All Money Is Legal to retain the NYWC Tag Team Championship. The Celtic Saints were the hometown faces tonight. They had a whole cheering section, and Kieran (or maybe Michael) slapped my hand.
My Personal Notes:
I sat with Robert, and jdawg. Ringside was available, even though they said it was sold out.
The big problem of the evening: FANS THROWING STUFF INTO THE RING!!!!! Oh my god. There is a difference between booing the heel and being a respectful fan. Thank god nothing that could injure someone was thrown. Mega got the bulk of it and should have walked out, but he was a trooper for not getting anybody thrown out. Shane seemed to not care though, so when someone is stupid enough to throw something that can get someone hurt, then he'll care.
Chris Kanyon made an appearance in the audience (not in the ring). Kanyon is from the area I believe, and he was a nice guy.
Someone who works for the WWE showed up, but I will not say who out of respect and the fact that he has a contract.
Mikey came out before and talked with Robert and myself. I find myself in awe because someone like Mikey Whipwreck took time out to say hello to us. It made my day.
I didn't see Alex Reynolds after the event. I guess he really had to leave early.
Some very impressionable kids thought I was a trainer (HA!). I told them I was in training, and I'll be in the ring soon. I explained to them that the NYWC guys are everyday joes just like us. They have their own jobs and lives, and do this to entertain us, and sometimes it might not be right to ask for an autograph at a certain time.
I liked the venue, but it was very hot. It was big, and very fitting for a wrestling promotion. They'll be back in Woodside in December, and I'll be at that show.
The NYWC returns to the Sportatorium for "Revenge." I'll be there, and so will Robert Lotti. This is the all knowing Scooterdust saying "Dude, wait, what?"
