What did y'all think of NXT?
I really enjoyed it. It's pretty much the American Dragon show, and that doesn't bother me one bit. I totally marked out when they announced him and Jericho, an absolute dream match. Granted it was only an 8 minute TV match, but it was a fun one at that.
I think Otunga has potential. His video package was good, he showed a lot of character. I've heard he's a little green in the ring, but hell, that's what this show is for.
I REALLY don't care for Slater. He was alright in the ring, but the whole "one man rock band" thing just doesn't do it for me. His dance is..ugh.
All the stuff with the SES and Darren Young was great. Punk looked at him with such a disgusted, confused look. Punk's promo before that match was great. I really like that pairing. I'm sure Young will have his head shaved before long.
It must suck to be Justin Gabriel(why'd they change his name? Justin Angel sounds better, imo. No need to conjure up memories of DJ Gabriel) and Skip Sheffield right now. They didn't even make it onto the first episode besides chillin' in the back with their gear on.
The main was fun. I think I like Wade Barrett, he seemed pretty cool. I like his look. Dragon was awesome, bumping Miz out of the way during their entrance. It was a pretty fun match. Jericho apparently didn't know how to take the dragon screw, which was a bit odd. And then there was that dive...oh that dive. That was scary. Jericho totally didn't catch him. But of course in true Danielson fashion, he took it like a champ and got right back up. He's gotten stomped in the eye by friggin' Takeshi Morishima, an announce table is nothin'. The crowd went crazy when he locked in the heel hook on Jericho, which was awesome. He really seems to be getting over. I really liked that Jericho had to bust out the Lion Tamer to put him away. I thought it was a great little touch.
Oh, and Michael Cole ranting about the internet and the dirt sheets? I can't decide if it greatly amused me or greatly annoyed me. Rumor has it that it was a shoot, and that he legit lives inside the WWE bubble, but who knows.
Anyways, so yeah, what did you think of the first episode of NXT?
